Shing Privacy Policy

Shing ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you use our mobile application ("App").

2. Data Collection & Storage

Shing is designed to operate as a fully local-only application. We do not collect any personal data from you, including but not limited to:

• Name, contact information, or demographic details
• Gift logs, recipient details, or reaction notes
• Calendar entries, birthday/anniversary data, or reminder preferences
• Device information, location data, or usage analytics

All data you create within the App is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to Shing’s servers or any third-party services. We do not use cookies, tracking tools, or analytics platforms to monitor your use of the App.

3. Data Usage

Since we do not collect any personal data, we have no ability to use, share, or process your information for any purpose. Your data is solely controlled by you and is only accessible on your device.

The only exception to this is when you manually export a backup of your data: you retain full control over the backup file and may store, share, or delete it at your discretion. Shing has no access to these exported files.

4. Data Security

While we do not store your data, we take technical measures to ensure the App’s local data storage is secure:

• Data is stored in encrypted format on your device where supported by the operating system
• The App does not include any functionality to automatically share or upload your data to external services
• We do not integrate with third-party APIs that would require data transmission

You are responsible for securing your device with a passcode, biometric authentication, or other security measures to prevent unauthorized access to your local Shing data.

5. User Rights

As all your data remains on your device, you retain full control over your information at all times:

• You may view, edit, or delete any data within the App at any time
• You may export a backup of your data for safekeeping
• You may permanently delete all Shing data by uninstalling the App from your device
• You have the right to stop using the App at any time, with no ongoing obligations to Shing

6. Compliance with U.S. Law

Shing complies with all applicable U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including but not limited to:

• California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)
• Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
• Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)

Since we do not collect any personal data, we fully align with the principles of data minimization and user control outlined in these regulations. We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify users of material changes through in-app notifications or updates to this document. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
